Job Responsibilities
1. Mainly responsible for primary teaching managment and teaching quality supervise and improvment
2. Overall managing foreign teachers of primary
3. Market enrollment promotion and management
4. Develop a progressive and effective English (ESL) curriculum from KG – G6, that fits with IB PYP standards and the Chinese National Curriculum (CNC) local requirements
5. Observe and evaluate the teaching quality of the English teaching team.
6. Be involved in the recruitment and review of potential new teachers.
7. Provide mentoring, training, and support for the English teaching team
8. Collaborate with PYPC’s with regards to standards, education and operations
9. Collaborate with other subject heads in the planning of transdisciplinary units
10.Collaborate with Year Level Leaders (YLLs) regarding operations and education
11.Develop the PYP English curriculum to successfully integrate into the MYP for seamless and logical progression for students
12.Deliver consistently high-quality English classes
13.Develop and deliver exemplar classes for peer observation and teacher development
14.Identify appropriate activities and competitions for students to participate / compete in each yea
15.Make sure that internal data and student management systems are kept up to date and that data is used to drive data-based decision making
16.Daily management of the ESL team, including work required from the HR department
17.Participate in teaching and research conferences when possible
18.Participate in school promotional material development, as well as be actively involved in school promotional activities
19.Complete other related work assigned by leaders
Requirements
1. VP is mainly responsible for overall managing foreign teachers of primary and market enrollment promotion as well.
2. Head of English is responsible for the English ESL curriculum, assessments, and subject development.
3. The position comes with a reduced teaching load (Approximately 8-12 periods per week), as the main focus of the position is to develop and maintain an effective and progressive PYP English (ESL) curriculum, including learning and assessment methodology, for use from KG through to G6.
4. The position also involves the daily management of the English (ESL) team, comprising of approximately fifteen to twenty teachers.
5. The position will also include performance management responsibilities, which includes the observation and review of the English (ESL) teaching team.
6. Bachelor’s degree; graduate degree in early childhood education or related field preferred
7. This will link into teacher development, mentoring and training.
